The article took a critical stance on the response of Japanese prime minister, Shinzo Abe, and his administration to the coronavirus outbreak, highlighting the disease’s impact not only on Japan’s public health but the national economy.
“The opposition parties are in too hopeless a state to take advantage of the situation, and none of the ruling party’s leaders who would like to succeed Abe want to come to power in the middle of this unprecedented crisis,” the article quoted Professor Curtis as saying.
