As an expanding center for the study of Southeast Asia and a member of the New York Southeast Asia Network, the Weatherhead East Asian Institute hosts year-round public events and scholarly workshops about the politics, history, economics, and culture of the region. Additionally, the Institute supports undergraduate and graduate research as well as publications about Southeast Asia. Through its MARSEA program, the Institute provides graduate students the opportunity to take courses on a variety of topics concerning Southeast Asia.
