Duncan McCargo, Senior Research Scholar at the Weatherhead East Asian Institute and Professor of Political Science at the University of Leeds, wrote an April 12, 2016 op-ed in the Nikkei Asian Review about the upcoming constitutional referendum in Thailand. Titled “Thai Junta Marches Toward Day of Reckoning,” Professor McCargo’s article notes that “If not the beginning of the end, the Aug. 7 referendum may well prove the end of the beginning, paving the way for more overt shows of public discontent.”
