In a May 26 post for Critical Inquiry‘s “Posts from the Pandemic” blog, WEAI Professor Lydia Liu discusses the US’s failure to prevent and contain the COVID-19 outbreak despite having “the world’s most advanced biosecurity regime.”
“With our best-funded research, farsighted preparations, carefully designed simulation exercises, and timely warnings, we are supposed to outperform all other nations in coping with a pandemic. Instead, we are currently ranked highest in the number of deaths and COVID-19 cases as of late May, when I last checked,” wrote Liu.
