Video is now available of Marc Steinberg, Associate Professor of Film Studies in the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema at Concordia University, discussing the key aspects of the Media Mix and Anime in Japan.
Professor Steinberg, who visited the Weatherhead East Asian Institute in March 2016, is an expert on Japanese animation, transmedia practice, global media industries, media theory, and digital cultures. His previous books include Anime’s Media Mix: Franchising Toys and Characters in Japan (University of Minnesota Press, 2012) and Naze Nihon wa “media mikkusu suru kuni” nano ka (Why is Japan a “Media Mixing Nation”?, trans. Nakagawa Yuzuru and supervised by Ōtsuka Eiji, Tokyo: Kadokawa E-Pub, 2015).
