During the sold-out event, Gerald L. Curtis, the Burgess Professor of Political Science Emeritus at Columbia University, and Takatoshi Ito, Professor of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University, discussed the October 22, 2017 snap election in Japan and its significance. Their talk was introduced and moderated by Hugh T. Patrick, Director of the Center on Japanese Economy and Business, Columbia Business School.
