The Thai publication Prachatai published an April 3, 2018 article about the March 27 international conference “Thailand Update 2018: Towards Thailand 4.0?” The conference, organized by Visiting Professor of Political Science Duncan McCargo and California State-Fullerton professor Penchan Phoborisut, was co-sponsored by the Weatherhead East Asian Institute, the New York Southeast Asia Network, the School of International and Public Affairs and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Study Center at Columbia University.
The article reports on the the issues discussed by the conference participants, which included Petra Desatova, PhD Student at University of Leeds; Allen Hicken, Ronald and Eileen Weiser Professor of Emerging Democracies, University of Michigan; Duncan McCargo; Arwiphawee Srithongrung, Associate Professor of Public Administration, Wichita State University; Apichai W. Shipper, Adjunct Associate Professor of Asian Studies at Georgetown University and Asia Regional Chair at the Foreign Service Institute of the U.S. Department of State; Penchan Phoborisut; Naphon Phumma, Lecturer at Faculty of Economics, Thammasat University; and Pitch Pongsawat, Assistant Professor and Director of the MA program in Government, Chulalongkorn University.
