Sept. 28 Event: “The China Boom-Why China Will Not Rule the World:” Audio and Photos

Audio and photographs are now available from the September 28, 2017 event “The China Boom-Why China Will Not Rule the World.”

During the standing-room-only event, Ho-Fung Hung, Henry M. and Elizabeth P. Wiesenfeld Associate Professor in Political Economy at the Johns Hopkins University, discussed his new Columbia University Press book The China Boom: Why China Will Not Rule the World. Professor Hung offered insight into the competing interests and economic realities faced by the Chinese state; he argued that these factors will stymie growth and temper the dream of Chinese supremacy. Yao Lu, Associate Professor of Sociology at Columbia University, moderated the event.
