Shang-Jin Wei quoted in Xinhua article on US-China economic decoupling

Professor Shang-Jin Wei was quoted in a December 7, 2019 roundup article by Xinhua news agency titled “Experts say US-China economic decoupling to leave US decoupled from world.”

“Contrary to the notion that China is the most important economic competitor to the United States, Wei, also former chief economist of the Asian Development Bank, said that the two economies are well integrated with each other. Economic decoupling from China means that the United States would see an increase of costs and loss in competitiveness, Wei said.”
