The Weatherhead East Asian Institute is pleased to present a Student Spotlight video series that introduces viewers to Columbia University students whose research involves East Asia and Southeast Asia. This video features Christopher Peacock, a doctoral student in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures who studies Tibetan literary writing – primarily Tibetan-language texts, but also Chinese-language literature about Tibet written by both ethnically Tibetan and ethnically Han authors. Mr. Peacock recently translated a collection of short stories by Tibetan author Tsering Döndrup titled The Handsome Monk and Other Stories. The book, part of the Weatherhead Books on Asia series, will be published by Columbia University Press in early 2019.
