We congratulate Sheena Chestnut Greitens, assistant professor of political science at the University of Missouri, whose Study of the Weatherhead East Asian Institute Dictators and Their Secret Police: Coercive Institutions and State Violence was named the co-winner of the 2017 Best Book Award from the American Political Science Association (APSA) Section on Comparative Democratization, and the co-winner of the 2017 Best Book Award from the International Studies Association (ISA). The book, published in 2016 by Cambridge University Press, also received an Honorable Mention for the J. David Greenstone Award from APSA’s Politics and History section for the best book published in the previous two years.
