In light of travel warnings issued by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and directives issued by Columbia University regarding areas impacted by the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak, students who have applied or plan to apply for WEAI funding (including the Foreign Language and Area Studies fellowship) for summer travel to China, Hong Kong, or South Korea are strongly encouraged to make alternative arrangements.
Moreover, students are encouraged to note the most recent update from the University Provost’s office that all upcoming travel outside the United States organized, led, or financed by Columbia is suspended until further notice. Students who are applying for WEAI funding for any travel outside of the U.S. should be advised that disbursement of those funds will be contingent upon this restriction being lifted by early summer.
